Our Client based in Yeovil, Somerset are looking for a Stress Engineer
Principal Purpose of Job
The stress function is responsible for strength/qualification aspects of company products. This involves analysis of engineering drawings and the generation of the test requirements for static and fatigue strength summary documents. As part of this process, co-operation with the other engineering directorate departments is required, as well as providing support to Manufacturing and Product support areas for the approval of minor deviations and in-service structural failures.
Working as part of the stress/design team, you will be involved in the calculation of data for use in the verification of designs and modifications of company aerostructure products and ensuring their compliance with regulatory requirements. Principal tasks and accountabilities will include (but not be limited to):
Contribution to engineering solutions by undertaking stress analysis of schemes and engineering drawings as directed by senior staff members
Preparation of requirements and analysis of structural test programs
Calculation of static and fatigue strengths demonstrated by tests
Preparation of fatigue substantiation reports and type records
Liaison with other engineering departments to achieve technical and departmental objectives
Undertaking stress and fatigue analysis where appropriate.
You should have either completed a formal apprenticeship coupled with an HNC/HND qualification or possess a degree in a relevant subject (possibly Mechanical or Aero Engineering). Knowledge of CATIA, PATRAN and NASTRAN stress packages would be advantageous
