Test and commission signalling projects to ensure the safe operation of the system at the time of alteration or introduction of new signalling.
Key responsibilities:
Provide local support to the Engineering Manager on testing issues, particularly the assignment of primary and secondary skills to the required Project testing process.
Prepare and authorise Testing and Commissioning plans/strategies to ensure Group Standards are met.
Maintenance of testing Certificates of Competence for all primary and secondary testers on their site.
Provide first point of contact for general testing issues associated with their site ie. Project Warranty issues, HMRI enquiries etc.
As stated above, act as point of contact for escalation of testing issues to Professional Heads, Quality & Safety Standards etc.
Carry out Tester in Charge or Principle Tester responsibilities for allocated schemes.
Monitor testing performance and recommend training needs for staff to ensure qualified resources are always available.
Plan and direct the allocated schemes to ensure compliance with Group Standards and that resources are utilised to best advantage to meet laid down budgets and timescales.
Ensure written documentation for Testing and Commissioning Plans comply with statutory safety regulations.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of company testing standards and procedures on behalf of the Professional Head of Signalling.
Act as, or identify Mentors for the Testing Group and ensure personal and technical development of subordinates.
Provide assessments of testers competence.
The Candidate:
Education HND/Degree leading to Chartered Status.
IRSE Member.
10 years experience in Signal Engineering including drawing office and previous testing experience.
Certificate in testing modules 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Leadership, task, time and people management skills.
Communication skills.
