To manage the mechanical engineering department to ensure cost effective design's are produced which meet the client specifications, relevant codes, standards, company procedures within project timescales providing support to the projects and proposals team.
Principal duties:
Approval of all mechanical engineering designs technical requisitions Prioritising engineers and designer activities to maintain schedule and man-hour allocation Develop the engineering skills of the mechanical team. Allocate mechanical / engineering design resources to the project teams. Review and develop in house mechanical standards and work procedures. Man-hour projections for mechanical engineering support and coordinating review of specifications Visit fabricators during pre-award, manufacture and factory acceptance testing. Attend client bid clarification meetings, kick off meetings and Hazops. Supervision of mechanical / design engineer assigned to assist in executing projects when required.
Qualifications:
Required: Chartered status or willing to work towards it
Preferred: Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
Skills:
Required: Ability to communicate at all levels, good negotiation skills
Experience:
Required: Mechanical Engineering background, preferable within the Oil & Gas industry.
