Main Job Purpose:
To provide 2nd line support of diverse local and wide area networks both remotely and on customers' sites across the UK. The client base ranges from ten users SMB through to Blue Chip corporate level. The successful candidate will posses a broad range of internetworking skills and will also be required to perform pre-sales network consultancy on a range of technologies from routing & switching through to VPN connectivity & voice integration. There will also be a requirement to provide in-house support of the employers' network.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle fault calls and carry out problem resolution in a logical, professional and enthusiastic manner. Take ownership of user problems when dealing with users issues and ensure all problems are solved according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Install, configure, and support the LANs WANs and security systems for clients throughout Yorkshire and the rest of UK as required. Maintain a high degree of Customer Service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles. To work closely with other network support technicians and plan, co-ordinate, and implement installations, upgrades and network security measures. Arrange and carry out site visits where problems cannot be resolved via remote access. Complete all required paperwork accurately for analysis of user support statistics and other data and recommend appropriate measures. Use the latest diagnostics and reporting tools to assist with fault diagnosis and carry out health-checks/audits where required. Prepare detailed network drawings and technical reports as required. There is a requirement to work a 24hour, two week on, two week off call-out rota. Attend pre-sales meetings with clients and assist the sales dept with the technical aspects of quote preparation. Recognise and feedback new business opportunities which present themselves whilst carrying out day to day duties.
Skills / Attributes Required
You will possess at least 2 years commercial experience supporting clients via remote networking and/or face-to-face. Fully conversant with network design and development practices. Extensive knowledge of, TCP/IP. Cisco Certified Network Professional Qualification highly desirable. Highly motivated with ability to work calmly and precisely under pressure. Strong knowledge of network management practices and procedures. Firewall security, VPN and/or VOIP skills a significant advantage. A highly organized and logical approach to problem solving. An eye for detail with a desire to always deliver over and above expectations. Technically inquisitive with the drive to keep skills up to date through a combination of self study and external courses. An ability to work on own initiative. A strong desire to be the best in your chosen field of expertise. Smart personal appearance and a good timekeeper.
Basic Salary Range:
£24,000 to £30,000 dependent on experience and qualifications

Hours of employment:
37.5 Hours per week. 9:00am to 5:30pm (1 hour for lunch). |
