My client are a computer design and manufacturing company, specialising in the mobile computing and Radio Frequency Data Communications (RF/DC) market areas. The company was formed in 1982 and rapidly established itself as an innovative designer of rugged mobile computer equipment.
The continued success of the company has lead to further expansion of the product development team, resulting in the company recruiting an additional highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer. Ideally, the Engineer will be an Electronics graduate with several years full product lifecycle experience in real-time embedded systems design, have strong hardware and software skills combined with innovative flair.
The role of the Electronics Engineer is to work as a key member of the existing product development team on the next generation of ARM powered mobile computers running industry standard Microsoft Windows CE operating systems. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Electronics Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the product development lifecycle. This covers writing detailed product specifications, project planning, attending project meetings, designing high speed digital electronics hardware, schematic capture, PCB design, developing embedded software, testing and debugging prototypes, writing assembly and test procedures, liaising with external suppliers, contractors and the production department to oversee the smooth hand over of new products into manufacturing. The Electronics Engineers responsibilities also include ensuring that all new products comply with the European EMC/LVD directives and to provide ongoing product support to our Customer Service and Sales Departments.
