My client are a clinical waste company whose IT services are all based at Head office in Leeds. They operate out of 10 sites located throughout the UK all connected via an SMDS WAN. At the moment all software development is outsourced to various companies on a project by project basis; it is their intention to move all development in house over the next 12 months. The first stage of this process has created an opportunity for an experienced SQL Server DBA who will eventually manage the development team (as a team leader) reporting directly to the IT Manager.
Responsibilities include: Data Management / Warehousing / Archiving of data (This includes data conversions from Legacy systems to SQL). SQL Server Administration Tuning / Maintaining / Configuring. Advising / Designing of Seagate Info reports / views / security. Specifying / Designing / Implementing IT data reporting systems in consultation with the various business units. Provide accessible ad-hoc reporting / information to the end user community. Team leader to a small group which consists of a business analyst and a crystal reports developer
SQL Server DBA: Programming SQL server, Performance Tuning, Security, Data Management / warehousing.
Key Technical Skills: Technical Software life cycle management, Change Management, Risk Management, Effective problem resolution
Programming Environment: Visual Basic 6, C#
