Due to its success in capturing a large worldwide share of the TETRA terminal market, my clients development activities are expanding. This has created a vacancy within the software team. Requiring exposure to the complete software development life-cycle, candidates should have a thorough understanding of the software development process (theoretical and practical), and at least five years experience of embedded software development on real time systems. More specifically, experience gained working on mobile handset UI development, GSM MUIs, WAP and Java are highly desirable, as is a good knowledge of the C programming language.
The role requires an engineer with a wide knowledge of embedded UI design and implementation, enabling them to take an active part in setting the future development programme for Sepura’s mobile handset user interface.
Whilst the role would ideally suit a candidate with a Tetra or GSM handset background, personal qualities are equally important. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, communicative and inquisitive individual, motivated by producing quality work within planned timescales. He/she will need to be structured in their working practices, but also to possess a flexible, ‘whatever it takes’, attitude.
Experience of the normal software development tools/processes (bug tracking, version control, configuration management, etc) and Office tools (MS-Office) are essential. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a real interest in the tools and methods required for embedded, real time, software development.
This role will involve, occasional, short periods of international travel, for example to attend Interoperability Test sessions with other Tetra manufacturers.
The right candidate will be rewarded with a competitive package of benefits, and with a fast moving and dynamic working environment.
