To function as part of the hardware technician team. To assist in the general fault diagnosis, repair and modification of all hardware as appropriate. To assist in the general test and evaluation of specific hardware and platforms as directed by the project team. To assist the technician team with the general maintenance and upkeep of the engineering component stores.
Principal responsibilities:
Assist in the general fault diagnosis, repair and modification of all current hardware platforms as directed by the project teams and lead technician. Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the engineering component stores. Assist, where appropriate, with the preparation of hardware, all associated documentation and shipping of product to external customers, test-houses etc. Assist in the preparation and distribution of hardware platforms prior to the test and evaluation internal to the company. Assist, where appropriate, in the test and evaluation and documentation of test results of specific hardware and platforms as directed by the project teams. Under direction of the hardware teams carry out test and verification of functional blocks on current and new platforms. Generate reports on the findings of the test and verification of the functional blocks.
Knowledge and experience:
City & Guilds 224 PT 3 Electronic Servicing, or City & Guilds Final Radio & TV Servicing, or
BTEC National Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Year 2, or Equivalent related qualification. Must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience. Have a good understanding of basic analogue and digital electronic principles. Familiar with all current SMD technologies including the placement of fine pitched IC's and BGA devices. Computer literate and be familiar with, for example, Microsoft Office. Have good oral and written communication skills. Display good analytical and problem solving skills.
