The Role: To perform system engineering activities on product development projects in R&D. This encompasses: Requirements analysis and capture at System, Subsystem and Application levels. System and Product Design. System & Product Verification
Key responsibilities: Software design, coding, integration and testing. System and sub-system level requirements capture and design for software based systems. Documentation of software for safety-critical real-time embedded systems in accordance with in-house standards and procedures. Configuration management and control. Review and inspection of similar work performed by other engineers or external suppliers. Interfacing with external suppliers to monitor delivery against agreed requirements. Taking on team leadership responsibilities when needed in line with project requirements
Essential Requirements: Graduate in relevant engineering discipline or other numerate subject. Good working knowledge of software languages (e.g. ADA, C, C++). Minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in development of systems containing real-time embedded software. Working knowledge of the complete system engineering life-cycle. Experience of safety critical systems development. Ability to comprehend information rapidly. Experience in a team leadership role and a willingness to take on team leadership responsibilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Dependable and self-reliant
Desirable Requirements: Experience in the development of Railway Signalling and Control systems. Willing to travel occasionally in both the UK and overseas.
