PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide Technical Support to the Major Account Manager. To provide Technical Presentations/Technical Support to the Major Accounts. To plan and implement the Company response to Invitations to Tender (ITT) documents from Major account clients (via formal Tender Procedures). To support the presentation and clarification of the Tenders to the Major Account clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: To provide the Major Account Manager on a day-to-day basis with the necessary technical support to maximise the business potential for the Account. To support the development of the Major Account by providing a high level of technical knowledge on the product portfolio and systems solutions. To support the sales effort by providing technically acceptable proposals, tender documents and bid submissions and contribute to ensuing technical discussions. To provide a technical interface to the Major Account clients and provide regular updates on the Systems capabilities. To support the sales effort with customer presentations on bid submissions. To support bid clarification meetings. To liaise with System`s Engineering, as appropriate, for discussions on the proposed solutions and the level of engineering man hours. To support the preparation of the handover of Order documentation to Projects group for implementation. To work closely with the Regional Major Account Teams in the pursuit of the business opportunities. To provide support at exhibitions, conferences and seminars. Where appropriate, to present technical papers at conferences and seminars. To demonstrate Systems products. Required to travel to other locations (including overseas) in support of the Company business goals. To demonstrate aptitude in recognising potential business opportunities in the Major Accounts and bringing these to the notice of the Account Manager. To work closely with the UK systems sales team to maximise the business opportunities for the Company. PERSON SPECIFICATION / LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: Confident and assertive individual with a strong technical focus and the ability to work with a small, highly motivated team. Professional and responsive approach, to gain credibility through integrity, technical knowledge and personality. Price setting and cost estimation for major proposals, within Company guidelines. Producing Gross Margin calculations for major proposals, within Company guidelines. EDUCATION / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS: Essential: Engineering Degree or equivalent. Desirable: Training in technical presentation/negotiation skills. EXPERIENCE: Essential: Chartered status engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience in a technical environment. Proven track record in the technical support of process control systems and engineering services. Desirable: Understanding of Computer integration, networking and MIS Systems.
