Due to an increase in the workload and to allow for career development we now have a strategic requirement for an experienced Principal Piping Engineer to join the Mechanical and Civil Department. Reporting to the Chief Piping Engineer the successful candidate will take a leading role in executing piping engineering activities on projects.
The role is a senior position in the Company engineering team. Demonstrable strengths in job control and organisation and a proven track record of delivering project execution to budget and programme, allied to sound technical knowledge, are essential.
Responsibilities will include:
All piping engineering and design activities on the projects assigned.
Supervision of other engineers and designers and checking and approval of their work. Planning of adequate resources, monitoring design progress and control of man-hour usage.
Assisting in departmental administration work including preparation of corporate procedures, standards and specifications.
A detailed knowledge of international piping codes is essential along with awareness of national and international legislation concerning the oil gas and chemical industry.
An in depth knowledge of materials used in the industry including their selection criteria, properties, design limits and product forms is essential.
Knowledge of welding and inspection techniques used in piping engineering for the differing ranges of materials and service is required.
Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years experience in the oil, gas and chemical industry with previous lead engineer experience.
A degree qualification is preferred with charter engineer status or working towards it.
Candidates should be self-motivated with a desire to continually look for ways to improve working practises. |
