BSc Hons in Engineering Discipline Chartered Civil and/or Structural Engineers or working towards chartered status, and/or 10-15 years experience in his/her specialist field a degree qualification is essential. Industry background desired 10 years Oil and Gas. Previous experience of engineering and design supervision and client liaison is required. This company is an acknowledged world leader as a Contractor in the gas process industry. We have ambitious plans for expansion both internationally and into other business areas from our base in Manchester. Due to an increase in workload and to allow for career development we now have a strategic requirement for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical and Civil Department. Reporting to the Chief Civil/Structural Engineer the successful candidate will take on a leading role in supervising and executing engineering duties on projects and proposals. The role is a senior position in the Company engineering team. Demonstrable strengths in job control, the organisation of other engineers and designers and a proven track record of delivering project execution to budget and programme, allied to sound technical knowledge, are essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in support of the management of the engineering function. In particular, in depth knowledge of the engineering and design of infrastructure, foundations, steelwork and concrete framed structures, pre-assembled modules associated with process plant together with material properties, design principles, codes, standards and relevant UK legislation are required. Additional skills in more than one of the following areas would be advantageous: preparation of specifications, scopes of work and subcontract documentation; man hour and construction cost estimates, programming and preparation of documentation for proposals. The successful candidate is likely to have worked for a process contractor or design consultant for a minimum of 10 years. Candidates should be prepared to work at other UK and overseas locations on visits and occasional assignments.
