Program Manager
Role
A world leader in automotive and transportation electronic systems. Based in Cambridge with offices in the US and Germany, they boast an impressive range of customers and an equally impressive pedigree of technical achievements.
Cars and trucks are now incredibly complex with electronics and software featuring in most applications on the vehicle, ranging from powertrain and chassis, through body modules to complex infotainment and interior systems – and they are at the heart of them all. Automotive electronics is the fastest growing sector of the industry, and is undergoing huge change as legislation makes emission control more complex, consumer electronics drives infotainment change, and concern over fuel reserves drives the development of hybrid vehicles.
They are looking to recruit a Program Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary program team responsible for the design, development and out-sourced factory launch of high volume automotive electronic products.
This new and exciting role will include:
• Planning and executing customer-specific product development programs in accordance with agreed timing, cost and quality targets to achieve a clean launch.
• Leading quote teams and generation proposals in support of new business development.
• Day-to-day operational management and co-ordination of a cross functional program team including Engineering, Component Sourcing, Validation, Manufacturing and Quality.
• Ensuring that programs are executed in accordance with internal and customer quality / process requirements.
• Ensuring regular and consistent communication internally; with remote partners; and with the customer’s team including Engineering, Purchasing and Quality management as appropriate.
• Managing the financial performance of the program and driving cost improvement actions.
• Taking the lead for co-ordinating the response to major quality and / or complex issues.
• Coaching junior members of the program team in support of clean launches.
The successful candidate will:
• Be educated to degree standard with a BSc in Engineering, Mathematics or a related field or have the relevant industry experience.
• Have 4-6 years of experience in high volume electronics manufacturing, engineering, project management or associated function
• At least two years customer facing automotive program (NPD) management experience.
• At least two years experience of working with automotive quality systems (TS16949, QS9000, ISO9000) and automotive customers.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills (familiar with 8D or equivalent process).
• Financial P&L and commercial management skills.
• Have excellent interpersonal / communication skills and have the ability to operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment
• Have effective presentation skills, able to operate at multiple levels including senior management.
• Be able to lead, influence and motivate the program team, be a strong negotiator and be able to lead programme and commercial discussions with the customer.
• Have good business acumen and be able to rapidly identify and address issues and opportunities.
• Be willing and able to spend their time at in Cambridge and Coventry. Travel expenses will be paid for these journeys.
