To supervise Technical Services operation, System, Safety & Product maintenance, emergency call-out, training & site commissioning contracts. To liaise with customers for technical and service enquiries. To deputise for the Service Manager in his absence. Line management of Field Service Engineers. Motivating, developing and evaluating assigned personnel. Work with the U.K Service Manager and Personnel to administer salary plans and other employee benefit programs and when required interview, select and employ qualified personnel, subject to final approval of the UK Technical Services Manager. Ensure that the Technical Service team is equipped and trained, to accommodate and service all the products and systems supplied and installed in the UK. Undertake service, installation or commissioning tasks where necessary in order to support the service engineering team and where customer requirements dictate. Work with the U.K Technical Service Manager to Plan, develop and submit for approval cost centre operating budgets. Then to monitor, control and report expenditure within budget parameters and authority limits. Devise, negotiate and administer existing site support agreements and their renewal, working with the Business Development Manager when necessary on negotiating high value and complex support agreement proposals and renewals. Ensure appropriate levels of stock components and boards, devising an environment to ensure FIFO procedures for stock rotation and segregation of new and obsolete stock materials Develop procedures to ensure that sufficient spares are held to cover the System Support Contracts requirements, including those Bonded Stocks whether on our, or the customers site. Discuss and negotiate with customer`s ways of satisfying their demands and needs for Field Service requirements whilst optimising revenue and margin performance. To promote existing Customer Services, to work with the U.K Service Manager and Technical Services Business Development Manger to devise new offerings and to identify potential business opportunities. To co-operate with appropriate Sales and Engineering personnel to maintain customer goodwill together with a planned service environment. Considerable customer liaison at all levels being essential to success. Develop the business of spare parts selling through active follow-up of quoted items and by consideration of parts packaging to ensure commercially viable, yet efficient, offerings. To develop the installation and commissioning of systems in conjunction with the System Engineering Group. Assist the U.K Service Manager in achieving the financial and performance objectives of the UK Technical Services Operation. Prepare and operate training courses, co-incident with customer requirements, developing a standard portfolio, where possible, of training options for customer selection and attendance. Fulfil Company warranty obligations, ensuring appropriate cross charging, where applicable, and within the operating culture of the Yokogawa organisation. To be responsible for the upkeep of Service documentation. To offer technical help to customers both external and internal. To oversee the smooth running of the demonstration equipment, and when relevant, the Customer Training equipment. Report monthly on activities to agreed format. Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with Field Service Quality Procedures. Liaise with all departments to ensure the smooth running of the group. Comply with Health and Safety guidelines and work in accordance with Company/Department Quality procedures. Perform any other duties as may reasonably be required. Must possess or be prepared to work towards a recognised business qualification. HNC/ONC qualification in Control Engineering or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial and technical environment. Experience with the maintenance of Distributed Control Systems. Team-working within a busy office environment. Dealing with urgent customer enquiries. Excellent package. Based North West.
