Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support to the Operations team.
Main Purpose:
To provide both a technical and control interface between manufacturing and design, development and QA, to ensure that both design for manufacture objectives are met, new-product introduction procedures are followed and to ensure production processes are optimised and waste is minimized (lean manufacture).
Key Tasks:
To work closely with the production team leaders and quality control department on all process and quality related matters.
To monitor daily scrap rates from set-ups and production and provide detailed analysis.
To interface between production and design / development to ensure `design for manufacture` guidelines are met, capable manufacturing processes are established for new designs and quality objectives are fully addressed. (FMEA, PPAP & R@R involvement)
To assist the Scrap Reduction Team by gathering / analysing data and carrying out investigations / evaluations and making recommendations which will result in improved process yield / scrap reduction.
Review NCR`s raised on a weekly basis, ensure containment, corrective and preventative actions are carried out and feedback to originator / team.
To assist with SOP generation and take responsibility for keeping SOP`s updated as appropriate.
Review SPC data and make recommendations regarding future SPC analysis.
As appropriate, to interface with customers` QA engineers during product development to ensure that requirement specs meet `design for manufacture` guidelines.
As appropriate to interface with sub-contract suppliers to ensure that quality issues are communicated and addressed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:
HNC – Mechanical Engineering Knowledge of automotive QA standards inc. TS 16949 Knowledge of `world class` manufacturing techniques SPC knowledge.
Desirable: Degree – Mechanical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
3 years experience in a similar role, Manufacturing background, SME experience, High volume production, Project management.
Desirable: 5 years experience in a similar role, Worked for Tier 2 automotive suppliers, Metallurgical training/experience. |
