Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the post holder will be responsible for both pre and post contract commercial duties associated with construction contracts in support of multi-million dollar projects.
This job entails working closely with a wide range of individuals and discipline groups both internally and externally across a variety of projects, including Project and Construction Managers, Engineering and Construction disciplines together with Client and Contractor representatives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Pre-Contract duties include:
Pre-qualifying contractors and maintaining preferred contractor database.
Developing project subcontract strategies and establishing subcontract plans.
Preparing and issuing invitation to tenders and enquiry packages.
Co-ordinating tender review process and analysing/evaluating same with recommendations for preferred contractor selection.
Drafting, developing, negotiating and conforming conditions of contract through to award.
Post-Contract duties include:
Post subcontract hand-over/kick-off meetings.
Review and draft contractual/commercial correspondence from and to subcontractors.
Prepare monthly construction cost reports.
Review, evaluate and agree variations.
Verify and process contractor applications for payment.
Review, analyse and evaluate contractors claims for delay and additional expense.
Agree contractor final accounts.
Qualifications:
Degree (BSc) in Quantity Surveying (Minimum)
Member of a Professional Institute (RICS)
Experience: Minimum 10 years relevant experience as Quantity Surveyor in a senior contracts / commercial role, preferably with civils and petrochemical industry experience.
Skills/Knowledge: In-depth and working knowledge of Construction Standard Forms and Bespoke
Conditions of Contract.
Good understanding and knowledge of Contract/Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. |
