Responsible to the Strategic Purchasing Manager the main purpose of this role is to ensure the early involvement of suppliers in the product development/ manufacturing process, and monitoring suppliers performance to meet both new product introduction timescales and target costings. Strong interface with partner functions both internally and externally across the company.
Key Tasks:
Active involvement in the product development process to ensure right selection and availability of suppliers.
Assist placing purchase orders in support of both non-core and core purchasing.
Undertaking and pushing forward cost reduction measures to achieve target costing.
Obtaining new quotations in support of new product introduction.
Provision of market information and price trends to ensure provision of new technology.
Prepare documentation to support sourcing decisions with interface partners.
Procuring of prototype and pre production materials.
Participation and involvement in both workgroups and projects in order to keep interface partners aware of Design activities.
Evaluate and develop suppliers in line with the recognised Evaluation System.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ideally MCIPS qualified or studying towards the qualification with an understanding of purchasing principals and techniques together with a sound commercial understanding.
Computer literate with knowledge of SAP and the ability to work with modern computerised systems together with Microsoft Windows based applications.
Excellent communication skills.
German language would be a distinct advantage. |
