My client has an exciting opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join their successful team. You will have to provide application, configuration and system engineering during the design, build, and testing phase of automated control system projects.
It is essential that you are qualified to HNC or equivalent level in Electronic (Control Engineering). Good command of the English language, both verbally and written. Driving license. Desirable: Degree in Electronic/Control Engineering. Commercial and business training.
Essential: Minimum 5 years process control engineering experience with an end user in a relevant industry, a contractor or competitor. Good communication skills and experience of working in a project team. Sound knowledge of automation control systems technologies. Computer literate using Microsoft software. Desirable: Experience/knowledge of automated control systems. Knowledge of software design methods and support systems. Knowledge of Windows NT, Unix, Visual Basic, C, Sequential Function Charts, etc.
job requirements: Position requires a reliable, self-motivated, polite and articulate individual, able to communicate with both company and customer personnel at all levels. Preferably with specific industry knowledge, prior experience and essentially strong technical skills. Capable of logical and original thought with the ability to react coolly under stress and delegate effectively.
Main Duties And Responsibilities: All aspects of application engineering, including and not limited to: System specification, design, implementation, configuration for products and 3rd party supply. Selection of standard products and major third party purchased equipment. To define and configure sequential, continuous and ladder logic from client P&IDs and technical descriptions. To define the system network, calculate processor and memory loading. To design field loop circuits and specify hardware components. ?Ensure technical compliance to customers. specification relating to assigned areas of work. Technical co-ordination of client factory/site acceptance tests.
Ensure that the correct project procedures are followed and that QA requirements are fully satisfied on assigned areas of work.
Ensure technical information is communicated to all relevant parties as appropriate. Attend and document meetings as appropriate.
Supervise the configuration work of Application Engineers and Engineering Technicians assigned to the project team.
Provide support functions not directly related to the execution of sales order projects: Provide technical support to sales staff, including pre-order discussions with prospective clients. Provide technical support to Customer Services, including support to Field Service and Customer Training. Training of Application Engineers, Engineering Technicians and client operation personnel. Assist when necessary in the development or upgrading of internal engineering/department procedures.
To be aware of the development of existing and new hardware and software products.
To comply with Health and Safety guidelines and work in accordance with Company/Department Quality procedures.
Undertake any other reasonable tasks as required.
