3D Product Design Engineer (Based in Midlands - Coventry)

Employing more than 200 employees, and provides a comprehensive commercial and engineering support capability to UK customers. They have seen significant growth in recent years and supply major customers in the automotive, commercial vehicle and supplier international sectors from their world class overseas manufacturing facilities.
Their product is bespoke to each vehicle, has specifically designed elements and is a complex assembly of hundreds of parts. Customers rely on their product expertise, therefore this key role will enable them to continue to provide a full service including design, manufacture and customer support for the life of the product.
Your challenge:
Ø 3D packaging and routing of wiring harness assemblies to meet all customer specifications and requirements
Ø Design to customer cost and quality targets
Ø Produce designs that are appropriate for efficient manufacture
Ø Produce designs that ensure efficient application into the vehicle
Ø Seek out and resolve product issues in an efficient manner
Ø Resolve packaging conflicts with other disciplines
Ø Select appropriate, fixing and installation methods
Your qualifications:
Ø Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent, in an electrical or mechanical discipline
Ø Experienced in electrical or wiring design/installation or wiring specific products, preferably automotive
Ø Working knowledge of Catia V4 or SDRC IDEAS
Ø Experience of automotive engineering specifications
Ø Assertive and organised
Ø Excellent communication skills
Ø Prepared to travel both within the UK and overseas
