Job Title: Product Engineer
Location: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham
Job Description:
The Product Engineer will have responsibility for new product introduction. This includes: product characterisation, product qualification, yield analysis and yield improvement. Candidates should have experience with Six Sigma techniques, reliability testing methodologies, basic failure analysis principles and automated test equipment used in development and final test.
Main aspects of the role are to:-
· Determine product performance through characterization
· Qualify product according industry standards
· Ensure correct documentation for prototype and volume production
· Drive yield improvement projects
· Work with test engineers on test time reduction programs
· Work closely with the operations team to support of volume ramp up of new products and ensure successful release to market
· Reporting progress/risks
· Identify resource and tools required to fulfil requirements
· Review, identify and instigate areas for improvement within current processes
· Work with design and test teams to develop requirement specifications for production test fixtures and software
· Co-operate with various departments in the continuous quality improvement programme
· Test, fault diagnosis and root cause analysis of test failures and returned product
Candidates should possess:-
· Degree in a scientific subject e.g. Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science
· Proven knowledge and experience in six sigma techniques - (Green Belt minimum, Black Belt desirable)
· Proven knowledge and experience in a product development or high volume manufacturing environment within the electronics, microelectronics or telecommunications industries
· Familiarity with ATE test methods
· Experience in yield analysis and debugging problems
· Able to generate clear and concise technical reports
· Strong Analytical and problem solving skills with ability to apply in an engineering environment
· Ability to come up with novel/innovative solutions to engineering problems
· Must be creative and self motivated
· Must be an excellent communicator, able to work closely with other members of the team
