Position:
Experienced Structural Engineer/Technician

Role:
My client is currently looking for Structural Engineers/Technicians, with 5 years or more experience, who are familiar (preferably experienced) with structural design, preparation of drawings and specifications for building structures i.e. foundations (of all types e.g. piles, rafts, RC ground beams), retaining walls, steel framed building, reinforced concrete, timber, masonry construction. You must also be conversant with Building Regulations, Structural British Standards, Contract Procedures and CDM Regulations. My client also carries out structural checking of calculations for several Local Authority Building Control Departments, therefore a good knowledge of Part A1/2 of the Building Regulation Approved Document and design standards is desirable. You must be computer literate in AutoCAD LT, and various structural softwares and the usual Microsoft Word/Excel. A good practical knowledge of building construction (and even historical building methods techniques) would be desirable. Ideally, you need to be familiar with and aware of current H&S procedures (e.g. Designer Risk Assessments for CDM Regulation purposes) and have a knowledge of The Party Wall etc Act and carry out site visits/inspection, meet and liaise with Clients and other professionals. A valid driving licence therefore is essential.
