Due to exceptional growth the Company has now got an exciting opportunity for a Senior/Principal Power Electronics Engineer.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Ø To specify, design, test and document power electronic systems for multi-megawatt drive systems.
Ø To work as part of a multi-skilled team, taking full responsibility for small to medium sized designs plus subsystems within large designs.
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
Ø Specify, design, test and document power electronic systems. Including electrical design, selection of components and review of designs and calculations.
Ø Application or development of engineering standards.
Ø Taking a lead role within a multi-skilled team of engineers, draughtsmen, technicians and/or test engineers.
Ø Supervision of technicians and test engineers as required.
Ø Specification, design or use of computer simulation and calculation tools.
Ø Occasional working away from the office to support tenders, acceptance tests and contracts.
Ø Provision of technical advice and assistance to Sales and tendering teams.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
ESSENTIAL:
Qualifications/Training:
Ø Degree level in electrical and electronic engineering
Experience:
Ø Five to ten years in an engineering design, manufacturing, testing or research environment.
Ø Power switching converter- AC-DC and/or DC-AC
Personal qualities:
Ø Good team player
Ø Effective communicator
Ø Enthusiastic
Ø Flexible and adaptable
Ø Full UK Driving Licence
Circumstances:
Ø Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short term working

Experience:
Ø Experience of IGBT based drives.
Ø Good understanding of power semiconductor devices technology
Ø Knowledge of drives control systems
Ø Real time, PLC or simulation programming (Matlab, Pspice)
