Senior Systems/RF Engineer (Shipley)
The Company is seeking a key individual to augment the existing design team of some 20 engineers engaged in the development of advanced electronics systems for the Defence and Homeland Security markets.
The purpose of this role is to provide design expertise and engineering team leadership to deliver the objectives of our Technology and Product Roadmaps.
Main responsibilities for this role will be:
Ø Undertake technical definition & detailed planning of specific product development projects in conjunction with the Project staff throughout the project lifecycle.
Ø Ensure that the product requirement is completely captured, planned as a series of engineering tasks and effectively communicated to the Engineering Project Teams.
Ø Perform detailed design from system to component level.
Ø Responsible for the achievement of the requirements, including cost objectives, of each product development project as detailed within the Customer order documents.
Ø Maintain visibility of the design approach and ensure through review that the implemented design will meet the product requirement.
Ø To facilitate and encourage appropriate technical discussion and broad communication of new ideas.
Ø Work with Sales & Marketing to support customer visits and provide product expertise.
Ø The successful candidate will be an accomplished design engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience leading multi-functional engineering teams in the design of complex RF and digitally based systems and sub-systems used within the Defence, Communications or Aerospace Industry. The ability to advance the needs of the design, the team and the individual in a balanced manner and contribute to the development of the department are key attributes required for this position. Specifically;
Key Attributes:
Ø A track record of creativity and innovation.
Ø Able to understand a system requirement and interpret successfully so as to provide a conceptual solution, a detailed design and sub-module specifications.
Ø Detailed knowledge of active and passive RF and microwave technology, including amplifier, mixer, oscillator and filter-type technologies.
Ø Proven ability to integrate a series of RF and electronic modules to form a RF system.
Ø An ability to analyse and diagnose technical problems and identify appropriate solutions.
Ø A track record of pertinent product design achievement
Ø Able to show commercial awareness and to interact with customers and suppliers.
Ø Degree or equivalent experience.
Ø Knowledge of Control Electronics would be advantageous.
Ø Beng/Meng in Electronic Engineering or a postgraduate in Control Engineering would be an advantage.
