Job Details: The Comapny specialises in the design of high specification IP cores, sub-systems and finished products that utilise high performance digital signal processing on FPGA. The company has developed and sells internationally, an extensive range of patented and proprietary FPGA based designs and specialised products (including digital receivers and transceivers) and has an exciting and challenging product development programme. The company is continuing to expand, building upon the significant commercial success achieved to date in the three main market areas of wireless and satellite communications, defence, and government services. The Company`s products are sold and licensed to leading companies across the world, and the Company has a reputation for high quality, very high specification products, delivered on time. The Company is registered to ISO 9001/2000. A position has arisen to meet the increased level of project work, and the increasing focus on complete product solutions. The position reports to the CTO, and he/she will be responsible for: Ø System level design and simulation for products in the above market areas. Ø Preparation of proposals and bid work, working in conjunction with the Sales Director in preparing technical responses, proposals, interpreting customer specifications, defining customer requirements specifications, and assessing project costs. The candidate will be degree qualified with some post-graduate experience, preferably in communications systems or defence systems design, and will be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: - Ø Signal processing algorithms and architectures (FFT, filterbanks, multirate filtering, image processing) Ø System-level modeling (Matlab etc) Ø Physical layer communications (modulation/demodulation, equalisation, coding/decoding, satcoms, mobile) Ø Defence (radar, sonar, SIGINT, EW). Ø General knowledge of FPGA architectures and design techniques would be an advantage The candidate will be a key member of the team from the outset and in addition to the primary responsibilities specified above, will also provide strategic input to the company. The position requires very close working with the commercial and the engineering teams; consequently, the candidate must have the knowledge and the interpersonal skills to be able to fit into a very focused group of people. The successful person will be creative and energetic, and have the drive and enthusiasm to achieve their objectives. He/she must also have the flexibility to be able to adapt to working in a fast-moving SME environment. Additional responsibilities will also include: Ø Involvement in customer presentations to technical design teams and commercial personnel, up to Board level Ø Fast technical responses to customer enquiries Ø Technical support in the preparation of sales and marketing literature Ø Some involvement in overseas exhibitions and conferences Terms of Employment The job will be based at the Company`s offices on the Isle of Wight. Salary is subject to experience. A package of additional benefits is available including health care, share options and pension provision. Due to the nature of the work undertaken by the Company, it will be necessary for candidates to obtain or already have UK security clearance.
