Job description:
A vacancy exists for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join The Company`s Ground and Environmental Engineering team in Cambridge. This growing team has a very diverse and expanding workload and requires a competent, dynamic individual to drive forward our further expansion and broaden the service offering from the Cambridge office. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for the right individual to prove their technical abilities on a wide range of projects whilst developing their managerial skills within the context of a top-flight company.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Ground and Environmental Engineering, the successful applicant will be expected to manage a small sub-team.
Key responsibilities include: - evaluation and definition of geotechnical engineering requirements for various projects
• proposal preparation
• managing geotechnical projects and liaison with clients
• technical input and quality control
• technical leadership and skills development
• financial project management and reporting.
The post will also require some involvement in: business development, marketing, recruitment and staff management.
Candidate specification:
All candidates will be expected to be in possession of relevant academic qualifications, be experienced in geotechnical analysis and be able to demonstrate excellent design engineering technical competences and project management skills.
The successful candidate is also likely to have the following characteristics:
Ø Good academic background ideally with a civil engineering or related first degree and a masters/PhD degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology.
Ø Chartered status, ideally with about significant post chartership experience, and seeking to build on this to maximise career opportunities.
Ø Experience of working on multiple concurrent commissions, and representing the company to clients.
Ø Strong project management skills and experience.
Ø Be innovative in the application of their technical skills yet rigorous in checking and quality control procedures.
Ø Have a `can do` attitude when tackling any challenge, the ability to work individually with minimum supervision, but also an awareness of the importance of personal flexibility to team working.
