My client are currently looking to recruit a Chartered Safety Engineer.
Relevant Skills and Experience:
Chartered Engineer with wide experience of railway engineering practice across the railway industry.
Proven ability to solve engineering problems requiring novel scientific research, as well as the effective application of basic engineering principles.
Excellent knowledge of railway safety and interoperability approvals processes, including experience of managing complex approvals assignments.
Good communicator, with considerable experience of addressing a range of audiences at different levels, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques, with specialist knowledge in the field of ultrasonic methods and guided waves, preparation of System Safety Case documentation, in line with Yellow Book principles, to support introduction of new or modified rolling stock onto the UK rail network.
Detailed working knowledge of approvals processes for the UK railway industry.
Hazard/safety management, through generation and management of hazard logs, including identification of appropriate risk control measures and ALARP assessment.
Performance of Independent Safety Assessments in accordance with Network Rail ISA guidance.
Performance of risk assessment in relation to rolling stock and its operation.
Working knowledge of UK rail industry standards with particular understanding of the requirements of crashworthiness, fire performance and Railway Group Standards.
Auditing, including performance of Railway Safety Case/Safety Management System audits.
